Measures of Instructional Leadership Expertise (MILE) Assessment
Welcome to the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership’s Measures of Instructional Leadership Expertise (MILE) Assessment. This assessment is an online tool that measures leaders’ skills in observing and analyzing classroom instruction, providing feedback, and designing professional development for teacher growth. You will receive an individualized report of your scores and results from this assessment will be sent to your organization.
During this assessment, you will watch a video of classroom instruction that is 15-20 minutes in length. You will then be asked to respond to three prompts. We estimate the assessment will take about 60-90 minutes and is best taken in a quiet environment. If you cannot finish in one sitting, you will be able to log back into the website and finish your assessment at a later time.
Write and save your response to the prompts in your text editor (such as Word or Google docs) and copy and paste them into the website essay fields. This will provide extra protection because the system does not automatically save your responses.
If you have any issues with this site or the assessment, please email celmile@uw.edu or call 206-221-6881 or 866-577-8066 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm (Pacific time zone). Please allow up to 24 hours for a response.
